SLF Abrasivi proposes a range of Flap wheels of different types and shapes in order to offer a complete choice and solutions for all needs to professionals in the field.
All wheels are produced following the European safety regulations, granting the highest safety level. The safety of the worker and the performance of the products come first.
SLF Abrasivi is a member of FEPA (The Federation of the European Producers of Abrasives), a National Associations and European manufacturers of abrasives. Members of FEPA have developed safety standards to ensure that abrasive products are safe for use, and provide recommendations for the safe use of abrasives.
FEPA is actively involved
in the promotion of safety standards in the use of flap discs.

SERIES 01 -WHEELS WITH FLANGES
Flap wheels are the most common abrasives tools made by abrasives flaps radially arranged around an epoxy resin nucleus.
These wheels are suitable to use on grinding, sanding, polishing and satin finishing works, specially on iron, steel, stainless steel, brass, pewter, wood and non ferrous materials.
Flap wheels are normally mounted on electrical or pneumatic portable machines up to size 165mm, while the larger sizes are typically mounted on fixed cleaners polishing and grinding machines through reducing flanges. Flap wheels could have a dry or wet use depends on your needs and they could be shaped for special parts.
Some examples of their use are: steel tanks finishing, productions of kitchens steels parts, iron or steel frames, turbine blades and steel tubes and pipes.
Flap Wheels reach the best performances at the recommended speed use of 25/35 m/s and should be used exclusively with its own clamping flanges (SERIES 07).

SERIES 02 -WHEELS WITH JAGGED STRIPS
They are special flap wheels, their flaps has a longitudinal cuts and intercalated between them, so as to provide degrees of the satin finish particularly regular, especially on shaped parts and in relief.
Due to the special construction, the consumption of the flaps is very smooth and due to the production technique developed by S.L.F. Abrasivi, silking is smooth from start to finish and the consumptions of flaps is very regular. For the special conformation of the wheel, the known vibration problems that are created during the use of normal flap wheels, Fast wheel “FW-F” reduces these phenomenon at the minimum. The wheel also is particularly suitable for finishing of noble metals such as silver, gold, pewter and brass.

SERIES 03 – FLAP WHEEL WITH SHAFT CLOTH
ZIRCONIUM CLOTH AND ALUMINIUM OXIDE CLOTH
FW: FLAP WHEEL WITH SHAFT STANDARD
The flap wheels with shank, are constituted by abrasive cloth flaps disposed radially around a core of epoxy resin incorporating a steel shank. Generally the steel shank diameter is 3 or 6 mm and length 40 mm.
FW-F: FLAP WHEEL WITH THREAD SHANK OF VARIOUS LENGTH
Are special Flap Wheels fitted with a threaded hole towhich is screwed a shank of standard length or choice of other lengths to allow the use in particular processes.
Examples of use are for machining of molds, turbine blades and in any case in small areas di cult to reach.
The flap wheels reach the best performance of the peripheral speeds recommended 20-35 m / s. Here it is realized an ideal compromise between removal, surface quality, thermal load of the workpiece and wheel wear shank. Are generally used on machines with flexible shafts, straight grinders electric or pneumatic.

SERIES 03 – FLAP WHEEL WITH SHAFT NON WOVEN
NON WOVEN FABRIC:
In the family of FLexible abrasives, the “non-woven fabric” abrasive is the results of the sum of three elements:
Woven Nylon ber (the support), abrasive grain, synthetic resin (link nylon with abrasive grain).
The main feature of “non-woven fabric” is its open, and elastic, structure that means it is less susceptible to blockages and reduces operating noise and guarantee a better finishing uniformity.
FLAP WHEELS WITH SHAFT “NON-WOVEN FABRIC”
Non-woven fabric shaft mounted flap wheels are used on electric portable machines. Used for the cleaning, grinding and satining of ferrous and non-ferrous steel alloys.
They are particularly suited for the finishing of surface areas that are small, di cult to reach or shaped surfaces.
SERIES 03 – FLAP WHEEL WITH SHAFT MIXED
INTERLEAVED FLAP WHEELS WITH SHAFT
The difference with the previous Flap Wheels with shaft (03-Series), they are composed with sheets of abrasive cloth alternated with sheets of non-woven fabric.
With the use of this technology it’s possible to get an higher removal power and good finishing.
Every deeper marks, such as scratches and scaling, can be eliminated from the surface area.
SERIES 04 – ROTOFLAP ST100 CLOTH
The FW-100 flap wheels are constituted by a nylon bush with double keyway and hole 19.1 mm for quick installation on portable machines like our model ROTOFLAP ST100.
Work Surfaces: Stainless and standard steel, aluminium, titanium, nonferrous material and alloys.
They are produced in four different qualities:
- FW100T – abrasive cloth: suitable for grinding and remove iron or non ferrous materials. Available both with Zirconium cloth indicated for stainless steel and with Aluminium Oxide cloth.
APPLICATIONS:
- ZIRCONIUM: suitable for inox, steel, cast iron and titanium.
- ALUMINIUM OXIDE (ALOX): suitable for iron, plastic, paints, resins and non-ferrous materials.

The FW-100 flap wheels are bigger than Series 04, however had the same properties. They are constituted by a nylon bush with double keyway and hole 19.1 mm for quick installation on portable machines like our model ROTOFLAP ST100.

They are produced in two different qualities:
- FW110S – non woven flap wheels: suitable just for finishing and silking operations.
- FW110M – interleaf flap wheel mixed with abrasives cloth and non woven: suitable for small removal and finishing.

SERIES 06 – FAST WHEEL M14
M14 flap wheels are directly mounted on the classical angle grinders, thanks to special aluminum bushing M14.Ease of use and quick replacement are essential characteristics, and the wheels FAST WHEEL M14 are pointed out in order to operate in small work areas, removing large volumes of materials and combine a high performance, thanks to the quantity of abrasive flaps which it is composed.
The wheels FW-M14 are very versatile, suitable for removal with high effciency for iron, steel, brass, aluminum, titanium, cast iron, wood, plastic, paint and generally also non-ferrous metals.
For safety reasons, never exceed the recommended speeds.
